Melbourne Heart were introduced into the A-League for season 2010/11 as a rival club for Melbourne Victory, with the new rectangular AAMI Stadium playing host to the club. Despite the club finishing in the lower half of the competition, their inaugural season was a success due to solid crowd attendances and the forging of an exciting rivalry with the Melbourne Victory. Under the guidance of manager John van’t Schip, the Heart will look to improve results in their second season in the A-League.

Shane Smeltz could be the only man standing between Brisbane Roar and the A-League title. The Glory marksman is a game-winning player – something the Central Coast Mariners currently lack. Smeltz proved in Perth last night precisely why he’s the A-League’s all-time leading goal scorer. His first goal came after he battled for a high [...]

Fans want a club, not a name, that fills them with Pride
by Tony Tannous - May 16th 2012 @ 3:30am
While the word “pride” featured prominently in the discourse about the desired culture of the new Western Sydney franchise, for a while yesterday it seemed the FFA had the word “culture” confused with the word “name”. That was the only conclusion to draw after The World Game yesterday reported that Pride was among the FFA’s [...]
